Statistics on Illinois Planned Parenthood Clinics vs. Alternative Clinics
The Guttmacher Institute, the research arm of Planned Parenthood, states that there are about 2.6 million women of child-bearing age in Illinois. According to Illinois Planned Parenthood’s latest annual report (2016), they claim to serve 60,000 people – both men and women.
That means less than 2.3% of women in Illinois actually use Planned Parenthood’s services. So where do the other 97% of Illinois women go to receive their care?
Federally qualified healthcare clinics and other community healthcare centers.
Currently (as of 2017) in Illinois, there are 17 Planned Parenthood clinics. Meanwhile, there are 670 alternative healthcare clinics. That means there are 39 alternative clinics to every 1 Planned Parenthood clinic.
A quality healthcare provider would treat the entire woman, not just her reproductive system. They will provide her with comprehensive, safe, and honest services that address her most essential needs, along with a variety of others. These 670 other clinics provide comprehensive reproductive services as well as preventative care and treatment that Planned Parenthood does not, such as mammograms, immunizations, heart screenings, and osteoporosis and diabetes care.
